Community Equipment Service Department within a major PCT
The primary objective of the project was the redesign of the community equipment service to maximise storage within the existing warehouse facilities, enabling expected service growth. This primary objective was set against a backdrop of needing to maintain a safe working environment given the inherent risks associated with the storage and handling of often cumbersome items.
Following a review of the existing storage arrangements, Veritas’ consultants drew up designs which maximised storage efficiency whilst ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
Veritas then went through the selection process for a new contractor to supply and install the racking and storage solutions, before taking the role of project manager during the installation process.
Once the physical improvements had been made to the warehouse, Veritas led a team of service staff in reconfiguring the method by which stock was stored; introducing a logical, safe and tidy process with regularly used items readily available and less frequently required items utilising the high storage positions.
The completed project has significantly improved productivity whilst reducing manual handling requirements.
